LSU vs Ole Miss

( 40-7 Win )

"Go to hell Ole Miss. Go to hell." The Rebels might have wished to have been there instead of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium after the pounding they recieved by the top ranked LSU defense.

It was already over upon the Tigers arrival in Oxford.

They quickly found theirselves as a very small speed bump to all their opponents in the SEC this year. The Ole Miss offense entered as one of the worst in the SEC, and for much of the first half, the Rebels played like it.

It's kinda funny when you sack yourself in the endzone.
Well it was to me at least.

Ole Miss' offensive struggles put the Rebels in an early hole. Ethan Flatt took a snap, stumbled in the end zone, fumbled and fell on the ball for a safety to give LSU a 2-0 lead. This was the beginning of an usual string of bad snaps. The only thing that saved them from further embarassment was the opportunities that we gave them to go three and out.

Bennie Brazell looks a little excited about catching this pass...
excited enough to frolick around while holding hands with the coach?

The Rebels crossed midfield only once against LSU's defensive starters but avoided their first shutout since 1998 with a touchdown with less than three minutes to play.

Just thought this was an intersting shot... everyone's flying around.

The victory for LSU (9-1, 6-1 SEC) was by the largest margin by an Ole Miss opponent in Oxford since a 47-0 defeat at the hands of Kentucky in 1949.The rout leaves only Arkansas standing in the Tigers' path to Atlanta. LSU can clinch its third title game berth in five seasons by beating the lowly Razorbacks next week.

They're so happy because I FINALLY decided
to catch up on my Gameday Blogs. Oh... and they won.

The rout leaves only Arkansas standing in the Tigers' path to the SEC championship game in Atlanta. LSU can clinch its third title game berth in five seasons by beating the lowly Razorbacks next week and possibly pave the last section of the road to another national championship. Stranger things have been known to happen.

LSU vs Alabama

( 16-13 Win )

As victory piled upon improbable victory, as the Alabama defense refused to give up first downs, much less touchdowns, as their quarterback flashed his Hollywood smile, the Tide faithful believed. Destiny was just a few touchdowns away as Alabama reached 9-0, No. 4 in the nation, No. 3 in the BCS Standings. The Crimson Tide kept finding a way to win. If they squeezed their eyes shut and looked hard, the fans swore they could see Fate smiling in their direction.

Fate hasn't turned her face towards Alabama in a while, LSU has won five of the past six meetings with Alabama. There would come a game when the opponent would be more talented, would be cool under big-game pressure, and Alabama would need more than its defense. That game arrived Saturday, when No. 5 LSU came to Bryant-Denny Stadium.

When the Tigers fell behind 10-0 in the first 20 minutes of the game, they didn't fall apart. LSU has had problems. With their personal lives in disorder, a few of their previous games have been made close by their own penalties and turnovers.

Their QB being sacked. Our QB being sacked. It's never pretty.

After halftime, momentum didn't just swing LSU's way, it raced to the Tigers' sideline. Most of the second half took place on Alabama's side of the 50. Croyle, trying to survive behind a makeshift offensive line, had no time to throw. Tailback Ken Darby, had no room to run. For the first time in more than two seasons, this Alabama defense did not force a turnover.

Thanks to that stifling defense, the Tide had won its last three SEC games scoring just one offensive touchdown. This time Alabama couldn't overcome its failure to produce any points in the second half, managing only four first downs. Yet it was the defense that got Alabama into overtime after LSU came back to tie the game at 10.

He looks 'bout mad. He looks 'bout goofy.
I laugh every time I see that picture of Les Miles.

Alabama opened overtime with a drive that went the way most of the team's second-half possessions did: nowhere. They were forced to go for and score a field goal.

Four plays into LSU's overtime possession found the Tigers at 3rd-and-6. LSU's kicker had already missed 3 field goals in regulation time. There wasn't much hope for the Tiger fans. It was then that Russell delivered the 11-yard touchdown pass with timing and accuracy to Dwayne Bowe, who had found that glorious opening in the middle of the end zone.

While LSU players swarmed into the end zone, Tide fans mostly sat stunned by the sudden end to their unexpected bid for perfection.

With an immovable defense and one big play by JaMarcus Russell and Dwayne Bowe, No. 5 LSU bounced Alabama from the national title picture and asserted itself as a dark horse contender, a team that wouldn't embarrass itself in the BCS championship game, should USC or Texas stumble in the next three weeks. Nobody wants to play LSU right now.

LSU vs Appalachian State

( 24-0 Win )

Saturday's contest between 1-AA Appalachian State and LSU in Tiger Stadium, on paper, was not supposed to be much of a game.

On the field, however, the Mountaineers proved more worthy than some of LSU's Southeastern Conference foes by out-rushing the Tigers and holding the score to a respectable 24-0 in front of a tepid homecoming crowd of 91,414.

*ruuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnn*

*cruuuuunnnncccchhhhh*

*weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

I guess Appalachian State didn't learn from North Texas example. They made us wear our purple jerseys too. Oh well, half the country can't even spell Appalachian despite the fact that it is a significantly large mountain range within the continental United States. That is a considerably sad fact.

LSU vs North Texas

( 56 - 3 Win )

LSU floored the Mean Green 56-3 in front of 88,887 fans who were forced to wait nearly two months for the rout that was supposed to be this season's first game. Instead the moderately amused fans filed in Saturday after the game was shoved back to Halloween by Hurricane Katrina.

The Tigers scored enough points in the game's first three minutes to put away the win. But the pile on started early and continued well into the second half as a host of purple and gold clad players used the mismatch as an opportunity to see their first significant playing time of the season.

LSU needed a break from the stresses and the strains of heart-breaking and heart-pounding Southeastern Conference football games. Unfortunately for the players from the University of North Texas Saturday in Tiger Stadium, they embodied that break. That's what they get for making us wear our purple jerseys.

LSU vs Auburn

( 20-17 Win )

This is the tale of two sets of Tigers...

2003: Facing a team that would eventually win the national championship, Auburn fell to LSU 31-7 in Baton Rouge.

2004: Auburn beat LSU 10-9 on a touchdown with 1:14 remaining. Vaughn initially missed the extra point, but a penalty gave him a second chance and the subsequent victory. Auburn goes on to have an undefeated season and a chance at the national championship, an opportunity denied due to BCS rankings.

Welcome to 2005...

Four times in the last five seasons, the winner of the annual matchup between Auburn and LSU has gone on to claim the SEC Western Division title and a berth in the conference title game. LSU leads the all-time series 20-18-1, with the teams alternating wins in the last four meetings. LSU got off to a good start this year.

Last week, Florida consciously punted away from Tiger kick return extraordinaire Skyler Green, knowing his ability to change the game on one simple play. Auburn employed no such strategy as the first punt of the game from Cody Bliss landed firmly in Green's hands and he promptly returned it untouched 66 yards for the game's first touchdown.

Throughout the game, the defenses were stingy, the offenses slumbering, and the special teams... kicking the football every which way but the right way. The back and forth struggles were ultimately decided in a dramatic overtime.

The redemption song of Chris Jackson heard throughout Louisiana was followed by the loud heartbreaking *boink* of Vaughn all the way to Alabama. LSU placekicker Chris Jackson hit a 30-yard field goal in overtime before Auburn's John Vaughn missed for the fifth time in the game -- from 39 yards -- to give LSU the 20-17 win in front of a record 92,664 on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.

LSU vs Florida

( 21-17 Win )

Yeap there's me... amongst a record crowd of 92,402

So... this is quite possibly the most exciting home game of the season for us, since we play both Alabama and Ole Miss on the road. Tennessee has proven theirselves worthy of being called sucky, which makes the loss to them at home even more irritating. Nonetheless, I'm determined to get myself into this game. So I guess you can assume I did... considering the picture above.

Pimpin' my car *hehe* before the game. This stays on the rest of the season.

I wake up, get dressed, complete with my lucky fuzzy tiger tail and ears... get ready to leave... and I stop. What have I forgotten. How could I have missed this... I haven't written "geaux tigers" on the back windshield in insanely large yellow letters. Last year I did purple... need to switch things up every now and then. All is well. Go to game.

Some spiffed out poodles... they're there every game with their fancy haircuts

I brought my real camera this time. By those of you who have no clue what I mean when I say real camera, I'm talking about film people. I realize some of you have no idea what I'm talking about. It's very similar to paper and the basis behind those things you call photographs. So since I had my real camera and there was no rush to get to our seats for the first time ever, we decided to hang around for the parts we normally miss. I was finally able to get a picture or two of these doggies I always enjoy spotting walking through the crowd at home games.

The cheerleaders get the crowd going before the team walks to the locker room.

The Golden Band from Tigerland.

We're usually already in our seats when the walk occurs. When the cheerleaders, band, and players make their way from the bus at the top of the hill down through a corridor of crazed fans. It was nice to relax and enjoy the tradition. So from what I hear, there's a game about to start... I guess I should tell you a little bit about that huh?

"Here come your Fighting Tigers!"

I could save you a lot more stress than I had to endure just by saying, "we won", but what's the fun in that. This was an exciting win because both teams really worked hard towards victory. It was very emotional... a necessary win for both teams. Unfortunately, that simply can't happen.

*pounce*

Florida has the ball on my end of the field early in the game.
Which means... they have a way to go.

Yay! for Halftime.

LSU has the ball around the 50 yardline. YAY! for zoom lenses.

Joseph Addai scores the go-ahead touchdown.

Yay! for Winning.

Florida left Baton Rouge with big ole' alligator tears in their eyes. Early in his postgame news conference, while trying to explain No. 11 Florida's 21-17 loss to No. 10 LSU at Tiger Stadium, Urban Meyer at one point paused for more than 30 seconds trying to compose himself. It didn't work. Tears filled his eyes. They were tears of frustration and devastation, desperation, resignation, and yet, extreme pride for his team that had worked so hard. He felt like the Gators showed heart for the first time this season.

While most expected Miles to be overjoyed with LSU's comeback and impressive defensive performance, he was livid because of five turnovers, 11 penalties and five sacks. LSU practically handed a W to the Gators on a silver platter. After scoring 14-0 in the first quarter, Florida scored 17 straight points by the third all. Still throughout the game there was consistency, LSU's offense consistently sputtered and the Gators consistently failed to capitalize on all of LSU's mistakes. Had they been capable of doing so, they could have easily pulled far ahead of the Tigers. Instead, LSU was able to snap the 3 game winning streak the Gators had in Death Valley. I guess they'll just have to chomp on that for a while.

Not the official score, but I have the pictures to prove that I wasn't crazy.
